DIY: Lavender sachet

So many times I’ve come across stunning vintage fabric at my local thrift store and have bought it with no plan in place. It’s amazing the array of stunning fabrics that are donated! Vintage fabric is perfect for pillow covers, purses and it turns out lavender sachets! This DIY is a great fit for using up fabric scraps and bits of ribbon. It’s easy, budget friendly and useful – plus perfect for gifts!

Supplies:

loose lavender
scrap fabric
pins
needle and thread
ribbon (optional)
pen and paper or cookie cutter for your pattern
a funnel or paper to create a funnel

First pick up some loose lavender. I bought this bag of lavender from my local tea shop for under $10.

For the pattern you can either draw your own, find something online like this heart…

Or use a cookie cutter.

Trace the pattern on the fabric then cut it out. I would make a bunch of these at a time if you can.

Cut out your pieces – two per sachet. Now pin the front and back together.

Either hand stitch or use your sewing machine to sew 80-90% of the fabric together leaving a small hole for adding the lavender. Feel free to stitch the fabric a few times. You can use a small funnel or create your own out of paper for adding the lavender. Place the funnel in the opening and slowly add the loose lavender.
